Fable Fourth Prime Sapta - Luxury Cigar Club

Vitola: 6.25x54 BP | Smoking Time: 74 min | Cigars Smoked: 3 | Body: Medium+ | MSRP: $10

Wrapper: Pennsylvania Broadleaf | Binder: Ecuadorian Habano Ligero | Filler: Nicaraguan, Dominican

Fable Cigars was named Halfwheel’s No. 1 New Company of 2016. Blended at Nica Sueño in Esteli, Nicaragua. The Sapta name derives from the Sanskrit "Seven Sages" — one of four vitolas in the Fourth Prime line.

Visual Inspection: Lighter than typical PA Broadleaf but with the characteristic rough veiny wrapper. Rectangular box press, tight and durable. Cold draw after punch cut: coffee, cacao, and cedar.

First Third: Coffee grinds and charred oak on the toast. After 4 minutes: coffee, baker’s chocolate, and nutty flavors. Retrohale reveals earthy hummus and pepper. Bakers chocolate and coffee command upfront.

Second Third: Tannins appear in undertones — similar to a cabernet, complementary to everything else. Ecuadorian Habano binder takes charge with pepper and barnyard, while coffee and chocolate settle into the undertones and retrohale.

Final Third: Charred steak takes the lead with coffee and chocolate lingering. Cream is slight, met by roasted chestnut and charred oak. As the cigar nears its end, pepper returns and wrapper comes back into play.

Final Thoughts: Very pleased — each sample consistent in quality and flavor. The Fourth Prime rivals some of the best from Black Label Trading Company and recent Padron smokes. For the price, quality is that of a far more expensive cigar. Highly recommend a 5-pack or box.

Frequently asked questions

What is Fable Cigars?

Fable is a newer boutique brand blended at Nica Sueño. They focus on unique leaf combinations and interesting vitolas — the Sapta (meaning “seven” in Sanskrit) is their flagship box-pressed offering.

What does Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper taste like?

Pennsylvania Broadleaf is similar to Connecticut Broadleaf but with a distinctly earthier, more robust character. It’s less common than its Connecticut cousin — earthy, slightly sweet, and full of texture.

Is the Fable Sapta worth $10?

Great value. The reviewer is highly impressed with consistency across samples and quality of construction for the price. If you enjoy box-pressed medium-plus cigars, the Sapta is a rewarding discovery.
