Martello Cigar Co. is the debut venture of Michael Martello Jr., a lifelong cigar enthusiast who spent years building relationships throughout the tobacco world before channeling that passion into a release worthy of the craft. Ortolan is the first cigar to bear the Martello name, and it arrives not in a box but in a handcrafted porcelain jar, a presentation that signals immediately that this is not a conventional debut.

Rolled at El Titan de Bronze in Miami, one of the most storied hand rolling operations in the United States, Ortolan is a 6 x 50 Toro built on an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers, some of which include Medio Tiempo leaf. Medio Tiempo is among the rarest and most potent tobacco leaves on the entire plant, growing above the ligero priming on fewer than 10% of tobacco plants. These leaves are smaller but significantly more intense, delivering an unmatched concentration of flavor and strength. Its inclusion in the Ortolan blend is a deliberate statement of intent. This cigar is built for enthusiasts who want something serious.

The name Ortolan refers to a small migratory bird, a creature associated in French culinary tradition with extraordinary, fleeting indulgence. It is a fitting name for a cigar produced in just 750 units, presented in a porcelain jar, and built to be savored rather than consumed.
