Liga Privada is one of the crown jewels of the cigar industry. Liga is highlighted by its USA-grown wrappers, from Broadleaf, Habano, and as of 2023, a Corojo version dubbed H99. Originally H99 was a wildly rare cigar that you were lucky to get your hands on, but after the first year it was moved to Liga's core-line.
With this, the addition of an H99 Papas Fritas was released, a cigar comprised of all the same components as the original but using short filler choppings to create the perfect quick, daily smoke. Enjoy this cigar on a fresh palate to appreciate this USA-grown Corojo wrapper.
The H99 earned its cult following through a combination of exceptional construction, a genuinely rare wrapper varietal, and Drew Estate's meticulous production standards at their La Gran Fabrica factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. USA-grown Corojo wrappers are exceptionally difficult to produce consistently — the Corojo seed varietal is notoriously finicky in American growing conditions — which is why the H99 represents a genuine achievement in domestic tobacco cultivation. The medium body makes it approachable for a broader range of palates than the fuller-bodied Liga Privada expressions, while the complexity and wrapper character ensure it holds the interest of the most seasoned aficionados.
