The legendary CAO Amazon Basin returns for 2026, continuing one of CAO’s most celebrated limited-edition releases. Originally debuting in 2014, Amazon Basin has become a cult favorite, and this marks the third consecutive year the original blend has shipped early in the year due to sustained demand.

Rolled in a 6 x 52 Toro format, Amazon Basin features an Ecuadorian Sumatra-seed wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and a unique filler blend of tobaccos grown in Brazil, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic. The cigars are produced at STG Estelí in Nicaragua, maintaining the consistency and construction CAO is known for.

At the heart of the blend is the rare Brazilian Bragança tobacco, grown deep in the Amazon rainforest. This varietal can only be harvested once every three years, with plants spaced a full yard apart to allow proper growth. After harvest, the leaves are rolled into traditional carottes and aged for six months, a labor-intensive process that contributes to the cigar’s unmistakable depth and character. Historically, this tobacco has even been transported out of the Amazon by boat, underscoring its truly exotic origin.

While production numbers remain undisclosed, availability is expected to be limited once again. The success of Amazon Basin has also inspired notable offshoots such as Amazon Fumo em Corda, Amazon Anaconda, and Orellana, all reinforcing the blend’s iconic status.
