Powstanie Cigars pronounced “Poh-stan-yah” is the polish word for “uprising.” These cigars are hand rolled at Nica Sueno, the same factory responsible for the ever popular RoMa Craft. Inspired by Polish resistance fighters in World War II, the Powstanie Broadleaf is one that should not be ignored!
Visual Inspection: Rustic in appearance, toothy, constructed well.
Cold Draw: Barnyard, Sweet, Leather, Big Chew Bubble Gum
First Third: Full leather, cream, sweet chocolate, and white pepper. The burn is clean, and even, ash is gorgeous, and retains its structure well.
Second Third: More of the same from the first, with the pleasant addition of more body and pepper. Still no issues with construction and the ash is holding together nicely.
Final Third: Consistent with the first and second. The final third did see an increase in creaminess over the rest of the stick, which was welcomed.
Final Thoughts: Although not an overly expensive cigar, the unique shape, beautiful wrapper, and fantastic construction all come together to offer a fantastic smoking experience. Every sample has smoked this way — I highly suggest trying one!
Frequently asked questions
What does Powstanie mean?
Powstanie (pronounced "Poh-stan-yah") is the Polish word for "uprising." The brand embraces this rebellious spirit with unique vitolas and bold blends that stand out in the boutique cigar world.
Is the Powstanie Broadleaf Perfecto good value at $9.50?
Absolutely. The reviewer praises the unique shape, beautiful wrapper, and construction — all for under $10. Every sample smoked has been consistent, making it a reliable buy.
How does the Perfecto shape affect the smoking experience?
The Perfecto tapers at both the head and foot, creating a more complex draw that evolves as you smoke through different ring gauges. It adds to the visual appeal and delivers a slightly different flavor progression than a straight vitola.
