Powstanie Cigars pronounced “Poh-stan-yah” is the polish word for “uprising.” These cigars are hand rolled at Nica Sueno, the same factory that is responsible for the ever so popular RoMa Craft. Inspired by Polish resistance fighters in World War II, the Powstanie Broadleaf is one that should not be ignored!

Visual Inspection: Rustic in appearance, toothy, constructed well.

Cold Draw: Barnyard, Sweet, Leather, Big Chew Bubble Gum

First Third: I am sorry to report that the Big Chew Bubble Gum note that I found on the cold draw, does not exist here in the first third. Fingers crossed that it comes back. Slight white pepper note on the finish, which is also present in the retro. Contrary to what I thought, the experience is smooth. Full leather, cream, sweet chocolate, and white pepper. The burn is clean, and even, ash is gorgeous, and retains its structure well.

Second Third: The second third is more of the same from the first, with the pleasant addition of more body and pepper. The burn is still clean, and mostly even. Still no issues with construction and the ash is holding together nicely.

An important note about this cigar: Although it is a 50 ring gauge at its fattest, its a short guy and has a lot of taper on the foot and at the head, and while in those tapered sections it acts very much like a lancero does. For those of you that are avid lancero smokers like myself you know that means you have to babysit it or it will go out on you.

Final Third: The final third is consistent with the first and second. I expected slightly more noticeable transitions given the unique shape to this cigar, but did not find them. I will say the final third did see an increase in creaminess over the rest of the stick, wish was welcomed.

Final Thoughts: Although not an overly expensive cigar. The unique shape, beautiful wrapper, and fantastic construction all come together to offer a fantastic smoking experience. Every sample I have had has smoked this way, and I have to say I am not disappointed. I highly suggest trying one of these sticks!
